Thanks for the input. I agree, trackers nowadays can allow you to use high quality samples and create very high quality music. However, since it's the 10th anniversary of Assembly, and since the oldskool music compo is not open for PC entries, I hope you allow us to be a bit nostalgic. :)
The multichannel compo is now about doing the best you can with limited resources. You have to agree, some pretty incredible stuff has been done in the past in under 1024kB. The MP3 compo is for you to use all the technology available and tweak your tunes to the max. If I had to guess, I would say most of the MP3 compo entries are 'bloated' & enhanced tracker tunes, anyway.
