Test Frameworks: The Next Level of Automation
Originally test tools offered simple capture/playback capabilities: recording and playing keystrokes, then capturing and comparing screens. While simple to create, these tests proved almost impossible to maintain, and capture/playback tools were eventually replaced by test scripting tools. Scripting tools are essentially specialized programming languages that allow more logic and control in designing tests, including the use of external data sources to provide varying test data conditions. While more powerful and flexible, scripting tools introduced issues of their own.

The creator of the C++ programming language claims that there has been a backlash against some of the newer programming languages such as Java and C#, with developers moving back to using C++. -- (News.com) When I asked about which programming languages you prefer, there were mixed opinions. Some of you seemed to resign yourself to the imminent idea that C# is the direction of the future because it's being pushed by Microsoft, Java by academics and Sun, while others are concerned that people who don't know C++ just associate it with COM despite many devs not using COM or don't see C++ as outdated. How does the availability of tools impact your projects? Shouldn't there be better tools to work with C++, just like has been done with C# and VB?
